Chocolate Legos

How much fun are Legos? I remember spending hours building houses and offices and malls with my Legos. I actually remember specific fights with my brother over the neon yellow lamp shade. Those were hard to come by. Wow, we would also fight over those clear computers. We each wanted to have computer labs in our Lego offices (this is when AOL first launched and it was a big deal to have a computer). I remember there only being one clear computer and obviously it had my name all over it. I would put the neon lamp right on the corner of the computer. I could seriously go on and on. But I won't because I'm making chocolate Legos today! Whaaaaaa chocolate Legos!? Yes ma'am.

I made these chocolate Legos today on Home and Family on the Hallmark Channel (weekdays 10am/9c). If you missed this episode you can scroll down and see the tutorial!

Chocolate Legos

What you need
Colored Candy Melts or chocolate chips
Vegetable Shortening
Food Coloring
Lego Molds
Scraper
Sheet pan

Directions
1. Melt your candy melts in a glass bowl at 30 second intervals, stirring in between until completely melted. Be careful not to over-heat. (If using non-tempered chocolate you must melt in a double boiler)

2. If you add food coloring into your candy melts you must add 1-2 tablespoons of vegetable shortening to smooth out your colored chocolate.

3. Pour your chocolate into your Lego molds and place on a sheet pan. Using a scraper, scrape off any excess chocolate into your bowl.

4. Carefully pound your sheet pan with your molds on the counter so the bubbles rise to the top. You will do this repeatedly for 1-2 minutes until all bubbles are gone.

5. Refrigerate molds for 30 minutes to 1 hour before removing Legos.
