Crispy Peanut Butter Balls

How to win friends and influence people:
Give them crispy peanut butter balls.
Until this week I had never had a peanut butter ball with Rice Krispies cereal in the center ...... I knowwwwww. Someone told me about them so I decided to give it a try. Apparently they are a "thang" in the South. They are like little chocolate crack balls if you ask me. They are absolutely delicious. And so absolutely bad for you. And so absolutely delicious.

You should honestly make this recipe. You will make new friends or at least keep the friends you have.

You can make them for Christmas.
You can make them for a neighbor.
Eat them in an Uber.
Eat them in a house.
Eat them with a mouse.
Eat them in a box.
Eat them with a fox.
You may like them.
You will see.
You may like them.
Even in a tree.

No idea what I'm saying at this point. I'm on my 5th peanut butter ball and pretty close to a sugar coma.
Thank you to the person who introduced me to these crack balls and thank you to Dr. Seuss for inspiring this ridiculous post.
Happy Holidays! Xx

Old Fashioned Crispy Peanut Butter Balls

Ingredients
2 cups creamy peanut butter
1 stick of butter (1/2 cup)
4 cups confectioners' sugar
3 cups Kellogg's Rice Krispies Cereal
3 cups milk chocolate chips
1 tsp vegetable shortening

Directions
1. Melt peanut butter and butter in saucepan, over low heat. In a large bowl, mix crispy rice cereal and confectioners' sugar well. Pour melted peanut butter and butter over cereal and sugar and blend together thoroughly.

2. Form into 1 inch or smaller balls, spread on cookie sheets, chill till firm in refrigerator or overnight if you don't want to dip them immediately.

3. Melt chocolate in a double boiler and add 1 teaspoon of vegetable shortening. Keep melted while working with the peanut butter balls. Two tiny forks work best to use in dipping the balls in the melted chocolate. Place on a parchment lined cookie sheet and chill until chocolate is firm. Keep stored in fridge until ready to serve.
