Yellow fondant, optional
Directions
Wash and dry your apples and remove the stem. If you are using the real branch sticks (linked above) wash those as well and dry. Firmly press a stick into the top center (where the stem was) of each apple.
In a small glass bowl melt your caramels according to the package.
Turn each apple in the hot caramel and let any excess caramel drip off the apple back into the bowl or use a spoon to gently remove the excess from the bottom. Place the caramel apples on a small tray lined with wax paper. Let harden or place in freezer for five minutes.
Melt your chocolate in a small bowl at 30 second intervals, stirring in between, until completely melted. Fill a piping bag, fitted with a small round tip, with the melted chocolate. Gently pipe the chocolate up and down the apple so it looks like a broom. Pipe a small amount upwards on the stick as well. This will be the βtopβ of your broom. Allow to harden or refrigerate for 20 minutes.
Once the apples are firm you can cut tiny fondant strips to wrap around the broom if desired. You could also use colored white chocolate or melted candy melts for this portion. Enjoy!
