One Pot Chocolate Bundt Cake
This is part of my series where I collect antique recipes and try them out. Some are delicious and some not so much. Don’t worry, I only post the good ones 😉
Today we are making Ida’s one pot chocolate cake and it’s incredible. Scroll down for the recipe!
One Pot Chocolate Bundt Cake
Yield:10 servings
1 cup granulated sugar (plus more for dusting pan)
8 ounces quality milk or semi chocolate
1 stick unsalted butter (plus more for greasing the pan)
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste or extract
Chocolate Ganache Ingredients
1 bag (11.5 ounces) milk chocolate chips
3/4 cup (6 ounces) heavy cream
Directions
1.Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a large pot, mix together the sugar, chocolate, butter and 1 cup of water. Place over medium heat and stir occasionally until all of the ingredients are melted and blended. Remove from the heat and let cool slightly.
2. Grease and sugar a Bundt pan. (Tip: Be meticulous with this as the cake is super moist and will stick). Meanwhile, sift together the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
3. When the melted chocolate mixture has slightly cooled, whisk in the buttermilk and eggs. Whisk in the dry ingredients and vanilla. Pour the batter into the prepared Bundt pan and bake on the middle rack until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, about 35-45 minutes. Let the cake cool for 10 minutes, then remove from the pan. Let cool completely.
4. Meanwhile, prepare the ganache by pouring hot cream over your chocolate and whisking vigorously. Refrigerate for thirty minutes.
5. When the cake is cool, pour the ganache over the top and enjoy.
