Our Top 8 Design Trends for 2020
#1 Sustainable Materials
Sustainability has become increasingly more important to consumers. As society gravitates towards a more eco-friendly lifestyle, house buyers are becoming more ecologically conscious and knowledgeable than ever before. We predict a very big increase in the use of sustainable products this year. From reclaimed wood to sustainable countertops made from recycled materials, this is going to be one design trend that is here to stay.
#2 SEEING Green
In the last decade or so more designers and clients have begun to look for more sustainable materials. People have a better respect for the environment that didn’t really exist a decade ago. This new eco conscious attitude means more natural earthy colors are trending as well. We predict more green cabinetry this year and we are pretty excited about it!
#3 DARK KITCHEN CABINETS
White cabinets are going, going, going …… gone. In 2020 we are predicting more colored cabinetry. From green to Navy blue, more and more people want to add a pop of color and dark cabinets can make any kitchen instantly sexy.
#4 painted Staircases
Painted Staircases can add contrast to an all white entry. This particular staircase was painted with Farrow and Ball “Off-Black” and I must say we are in love 😍
#5 High Contrast Design
Kelley Mason, stylist at Lulu & Georgia, says high contrast design is making a big comeback. “[It gives] an otherwise more monochromatic room a crispness and a fresher take on neutrals.” We concur. The modern white walls paired with this sexy dark fireplace make the room feel clean and minimal, but warm and comfortable at the same time.
#6 High Contrast painted Doors
Painting an interior door in a rich, dark color adds warmth and character to the space. The right color door can change the entire vibe of the room. If this door was white, the entry would look quite basic and ordinary, but the black door gives the room an instant fresh and modern feel.
#7 OUTDOOR IS THE NEW INDOOR
Indoor/Outdoor space has been popular for a while now, but more and more people are starting to incorporate these large sliding doors into their homes. This not only expands the square footage of your living space, but it also adds character and increases the value of your home.
#8. UNIQUE TILE MAKES FOR A UNIQUE SPACE
Adding a unique tile to break up the wood made this laundry room off the kitchen just pop. We predict many more over-the-top tile choices this year.
